T-ball!

Today we learned all about baseball! Ms. Abby came this morning to help us with our soccer skills. The kids dribbled the ball around cones. They also practiced kicking the soccer ball to a partner and stop it with their foot. At the end the kids took turns shooting the ball into the soccer net to score a goal!

Our story today was "Hit the Ball Duck" by Jez Alborough. Duck, Sheep, Frog and Goat grab a bat, ball and glove and head to the park to play baseball. When Duck hit the ball it landed in the tree. Duck then tried to get it out using the other baseball equipment....but the ball and glove also got stuck in the tree. Using teamwork, they were able to get everything out of the tree so they could play more baseball. After reading the story we reviewed equipment needed to play baseball and the rules of baseball.

Then we headed to the park to practice everything we learned. Our class played Ms. Kelly's class. We were in the field first. When the other team hit the ball we ran to get it. We also practiced catching the ball with our teammates. After all of Ms. Kelly's friends batted it was our turn! Everyone hit the ball off the tee and ran around the bases for a home run! We had so much fun playing t-ball! Since the kids did a great job listening and following the rules while playing baseball they had some free play on the big park playground! We ended the day eating lunch and singing songs about summer!
Duck and friends go out one day
With a bat, a ball and a glove to play.
Duck hits the ball - but where does it fall?
On a branch in the tree - now they can’t play at all.
Frog has an idea, Duck lends a hand
But nothing turns out quite as planned.
