This morning the kids sorted different kinds of transportation in the pool. During morning circle we talked about our new month...April. We changed the season to spring, added leaves to our tree and changed Froggy's outfit for springtime. We also identified words that started with the /n/ sound. At the end of circle we identified different shapes based on the number of sides.
Ms. Michelle was here today! Our first activity was with balloons. We had pool noodles and ogosport discs to bounce and hit the balloons. The goal was to keep the balloon off the ground. The kids were jumping and diving around the room. Then we made silky, slimy goo. We mixed cornstarch and conditioner together. The kids used their hands to mix it together and make different sized balls.
Our story today was "Planes Fly" by George Lyon. This rhyming story describes what planes have...engines, wings, cockpit, rudders, and tail. The story describes how different planes are used....carry people, tow banners, and fight fires. At the end of the story it showed a families trip on the plane. After reading the story the kids labeled the parts of the plane.....this was important information for art.
The kids made a plane for art by following directions. They glued the body or fuselage of the plane onto the middle of the paper. Then they added a wing at the bottom of the plane and the top of the plane. Next they glued four windows onto the body of the plane. We used white crayons to add clouds in the sky. After we completed the art activity the kids had to point and identify the different parts of the plane to review what we discussed during our language circle.
We walked to the park to eat lunch today since the weather was beautiful. After the kids finished eating they had a few minutes to play on the playground. It was a great way to end the day!
