We learned many things in morning circle today. We started with the calendar and talked about the days of the week and months of the year. We also practiced counting to 30. Our "Everyday Words" we practiced were the, is, my, and a. We reviewed the "sound brother" we learned about last week, the lip poppers (/p/ & /b/). We also introduced a new sound brother pair, the tip tappers. The /t/ and /d/ are made by putting your tongue right behind our teeth and tapping it up and down.
Our story today was "Who's In My Family? by Robie Harris. The story talked about things families like to do. Families like to go to the park, play together, fly kites, visit grandparents and go to the zoo. Some families are just grown-ups and other families have kids. In our family we can have brothers, sisters and pets. The book shared all the different things about families!
After reading the book the kids made a bubble chart describing who can be in our family and what we can do with our family.
For art the kids drew a picture of the people in their own family. They shared with the group who was in their picture and then described something they like to do together. It was fun to hear the family stories.
We also worked on writing today. The kids rotated through writing stations before lunch. They practiced writing the letter "L" and made the letters of the alphabet with our magnet boards.
It was a busy day and everyone had a great time! Tomorrow we have our first class with Ms. Michelle!
