I Like...

Today the sensory pool was filled with different colored bears. The kids helped me sort the bears..we sorted by color and size. During our morning circle we discussed the calendar and learned a new days of the week song. The kids also learned that every Thursday we will have special visitors teach us music!

Music therapy was so much fun! They taught the kids a hello song and asked them to each sing how they are doing. We sang a song about our favorite color and the kids used shakers to make noise. Then the music teachers helped us make a list of things we like and put them in a song to sing. We also practiced some of our favorite songs.."I'm a Little Teapot", "Head, Shoulders, Knees, & Toes" and "If Your Happy and You Know It." During the goodbye song the kids helped play the guitar and sing goodbye to the music teachers.
Today we read "I Like Ketchup Sandwiches" by Lisa Conway. In the story the little girl shares all the things she likes to do. She likes to hang upside down, swing high and visit her grandma. After reading the story the kids shared with their friends things they liked to do. With their help, we made a big list...then we made up a song about all the things we like. Our class likes books, pizza, ice cream, the beach and dogs.

For art we continued talking about the things we like. The kids selected pictures of things they liked to add to their collage. They also drew pictures of other things they enjoy doing. At the top of their paper they wrote a sentence about something they liked.

The day went by very fast...and we learned so many new things! Tomorrow we will start "Sounds Around Town." Don't forget about the Greek Festival...and the crazy traffic. See everyone in the morning!
