For art/science we made a life cycle wheel. First the kids colored the tadpole, froglet and frog pictures. Then they used scissors to put out the four pictures. Next they had to place them in the correct order on their wheel. A frog's life starts off as an egg. Then he turns into a tadpole. Next he turns into a froglet, and finally he is a grownup frog!

The Life of a Frog
This morning we played memory. One game had us match baby to mommy animals and the other had us match an animal to its habitat. During morning circle we talked about the calendar and continued our ABAC pattern. The kids practiced identifying numbers 11-30. We also reviewed our consonant and vowel sounds. We made words with -og at the end. We read fog, log, hog, dog, jog and frog. For writing today we practiced writing lowercase "t". In our journal we wrote a fact we learned during the week about frogs. The kids also word with sequence puzzles to put the items in the correct order.
Our story today was "Fantastic Frogs" by Fay Robertson. In the story we learned many new facts about frogs. Frogs can be all different colors...blue, green, yellow, orange and red. They also can have different colored eyes. When frogs croak their chin fills up with air! Frogs like to swim, jump and climb. We added these important facts to our frog chart. The book also reviewed the life cycle of a frog.
Before eating lunch the kids practiced being frogs and had to jump from lily pad to lily pad. It was good exercise...especially since we couldn't play on the playground because of the rain! After lunch the kids selected their favorite frog videos to watch before going home. Everyone has their Friday folder in their bag with fun things to work on at home!
