Exercise

We had so much fun today at school. During morning circle we talked about the letter "D" and brainstormed words that start and end with the /d/ sound. We also talked about the weather outside! Before working with Ms. Michelle our class went outside and played in the snow.

We caught snowflakes on our tongue and collected snow to make snowballs!

Ms. Michelle continued talking about the Olympics today. We started by ice skating around the room on paper plates. We skated forward, backward and spun around. Then the kids skated like bears on their hands and knees. For finger fun the kids used colored rings to making an O for the Olympics.
Our story today was "Good For Me and You" by Mercer Mayer. The story described different ways to be healthy...eating good food and getting exercise. The kids helped make a chart of healthy foods to eat and exercises. Some of the kids favorite exercises were swimming, riding a bike, playing tag, and having races. We practiced feeling our heart beat when resting and when exercising. Our heart beats fast and we run out of breath when we exercise...that means we are working out our bodies and keeping them healthy.

For art we continued to talk about ways to stay healthy and keep the germs away. One important way is to always use our cough catcher. The kids made a face with eyes, hair and a mouth. Then we glued an  arm over our mouth to be our cough catcher. When we cough our elbow catches all our germs so they don't spread to our friends.

I hope everyone enjoys playing in the snow! I know the kids were excited to have snowball fights, make a snowman and go sledding!
