Ms. Abby came today! First we warmed up our bodies and stretched. We had four stations for the kids to rotate through. Station #1 worked on jumping over hurdles, station #2 worked on step over big shapes, station #3 had the kids run a relay race with cones and station #4 worked on kicking a ball into a soccer net. The kids loved taking turns at all the stations and working with their friends.
Our story today was "Mrs. Wishy Washy" by Joy Cowley. Mrs. WishyWashy was rubbing and scrubbing all the animals on the farm. But this time they aren't standing for it. Duck, Cow, and Pig left mean old Mrs. Wishy-Washy for good! They run away to the big city. But they get lost, wander into a restaurant, and even stumble into a hardware store and get covered in paint! Mrs. Wishy-Washy comes to get the animals from animal jail. They were very excited to be back on the farm. After we read the story the kids sequenced the events of the story using picture cards. When the sequence was complete the kids retold the story to the class.
For art we made Mrs. Wishy Washy. The kids first started with her face. Then they added her hat and her hair. She needed big rosy cheeks. The kids drew eyes and a smile on her last. We all practiced washing the animals saying wishy, washy, wishy, washy.
