Our Pets

This morning there were feathers in the touch and feel pool! The kids tossed them in the air and tried to catch them. They also liked tickling their neighbor.

Today was our last day of music therapy. The kids have had so much fun learning a new song and singing our favorites with Ms. Gretchen and her friends. Our first song was about animals going to the veterinarian. The song described all the great things a vet does for our pets. Then we sang the apple tree song...which is definitely our favorite. Our last song of the day was a song we made. We talked about all the songs we learned in music class and instruments we used and put them in a song. There is a copy of the song in everyone's book bag. We are going to miss music class!

Our story today was "Good Dog, Paw!" by Chinlun Lee. Paw is a busy dog. Every morning April, his owner, give him a check up and then they head to her office where she is a vet. Paw's job is to sing to the animals as they wait to see the vet. At the end of the day April takes a trip to the park then dinner with Paw. After reading the story we talked about our different pets. We discussed that people have skin and pets can have fur, hair, scales, or feathers. We practiced describing the different animals with specific details.

For art today we made a pet bird. We talked about where pet birds live and how they have feathers. The kids glued feathers on the bird. We talked about why birds needs feathers instead of skin or scales.....feathers help birds fly! Tomorrow will be our last day talking about pets!
