Today was a very fun and exciting day! We started the day with Ms. Abby. We worked on holding hockey sticks and hitting the puck first. We practiced passing a ball to a partner and shooting a ball into a goal. Then we worked on golfing. The kids tapped the ball around cones with a putter. They also practiced putting the ball into circles.
Then it was time to head to the fire station! On our walk we talked about things we were going to see. The fire man said hello to us when we go to the station. We first looked at the ladder truck. It had a big white ladder on top of the truck and had lots of ladders in the back of the truck. The fire fighters showed us where they hook up the hoses to put out the fire. The kids took turns looking around the back on the fire truck. Then the fire siren went off...the fire man had to go help someone in our community! Lucky for us, the water truck just pulled in the station.
The kids toured the water truck and took turns pretending to turn on the big fire hose. The fire fighters hook the hose to the fire hydrant to get water to put out the fire. They also walked through and sat down in the back of the water truck. Fire fighter Rob showed the kids their special uniform. Fire fighters wear special pants, jackets, hood, gloves, mask and hat to they are safe when they are putting out fires. We showed the kids that fire fighters aren't scary when they are dressed up...they are trying to help you! It is important to look for a fire fighter if your house is on fire and not hide. The kids each gave fire fighter Rob a big high five in all his gear.
We saw some many great things at the fire station today! We had so much fun that it was time for lunch when we walked back to school. Tomorrow we will learn and talk more about fire fighters!
