Our Teeth

This morning we had dentist gloves in the pool. The kids practiced putting on the gloves and "counting" teeth. We learned that that kids have 20 teeth and grown ups have 32 teeth. During morning circle we talked about the calendar and practiced letter sounds.

Ms. Abby came today! Today we focused on throwing and catching. First the kids made a big circle. They practiced throwing a beach ball to different friends in the class. Then they paired up and through a ball back and forth with a partner. The kids also lined up and practiced catching the ball when Ms. Abby threw it to them. The last activity was the best....the parachute! We made the parachute go slow, fast, and then each took a turn running under the parachute.
Our story today was "Just Going to the Dentist" by Mercer Mayer. Little Critter went to the dentist. It was time for his check-up. The dentist cleaned his teeth, flossed and took x-rays. The dentist found a cavity...Little Critter needed a filling. He learned that going to the dentist wasn't bad at all! After reading the story the kids shared a fact they learned about the dentist or our teeth. It is important to brush our teeth and a toothbrush and toothpaste twice a day. We also need to eat healthy food to keep our teeth strong. The kids learned that dentists wear masks and gloves and they take x-ray pictures of our teeth.

For art today the kids filled a mouth with 32 white teeth. They match the marshmallow teeth to 32 circles in the mouth. They glued the teeth...one by one...in the mouth. After the mouth had all his teeth the kids pretended to fix cavities and wiggle a loose tooth.
It has been so much fun learning about the dentist. Tomorrow we will start talking about going to the doctor.
